Accommodation

Our accommodation in this original 1661 built building is a mix of quirky and modern. Homely charm we call it. With a mix of different size, layout and style. Rooms, include four poster with imposing vaulted crown posted ceiling or another room with a 20 foot large oak beam running the entire length of the room. Or the contemporary rooms in the Victorian built stable block extension. All are interesting and designed with our guests in mind all with King Size Hypnos mattresses, luxury bed linen and bath towels.

Just had a fantastic weekend break at the Dog Inn. The room was amazing and the food first class. Its a lovely area and we will definitely be staying again. Many thanks to Claire and Becky for looking after us so well. We would recommend the Dog very highly!

  • Superb Stay – Excellent Restaurant

We booked a room at The Dog Inn earlier this year through a Living Social voucher and it turned out to be amazing value! For £129 the both of us stayed for 3 nights with a full English breakfast each morning and also had a 3 course meal each on one night, which was the real gem of the whole stay. We couldn't believe the quality of the meal and were quite surprised as we didn't expect to have such amazing food at an inn. We had scallops, lamb, pork, cheese board and bread & butter pudding and we were blown away at the exceptional standard of all the food - honestly it could have been Michelin starred it was that good. I believe the chef Alan had just joined at the time and had revamped the menu and after hearing about his culinary background, it made sense that the food was as excellent as it was.

  • An Excellent Visit

Stayed three nights (sun to weds) in Suite 7 and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. The suite was spacious and comfortable with a sizeable bathroom. A decent TV, comfy bed and hot drink facilities were all we really required from our room and it certainly delivered.

The absolute highlight of the visit was eating every night in the restaurant. This place is a hidden gem and if there's any justice the chef should become a household name. All local produce, freshly prepared and delivered to your table with a dash of finesse. Every mouthful was absolutely magnificent and I can't recommend eating there enough.

  • WONDERFUL VISIT

We stayed for 2 nights of the bank holiday weekend, and had a great time, the food is truly mouth-watering and everyone was so friendly, a really nice feel even among other guests staying at the same time. Love to go back one day even just for chocolate fondant and a strawberry bellini!
